Keeping to tight a lid on emotion does more harm than good

I have had that troublesome tooth extracted and whilst I am sore and swollen, I would not have thought about the impact on my body generally.

But for the two mornings following the extraction so far, I have been in the red and scoring only a one, due to my resting heart rate being too high and my heart rate variability too low. Presumably the effect of the anaesthetic plus the shock to my body at having a bit of it pulled out. That was a very clear message to rest, and a lesson that we don’t just bounce back and carry on.
