A Lancashire man is among 14 people who have been convicted of defrauding thousands of victims in a £28m holiday investment scam.

Some Lancashire people are also understood to be among the more than 3,500 victims from across country of what is one of the largest crimes of its type in the UK.

Lee Evans, 51, of Preston, was sentenced to two years suspended for two years and 150 hours of unpaid work for his part in the scam after pleading guilty to fraud by false representation. He was listed as a senior client advisor, directly involved in contact with victims.

The conspiracy was headed up by Mark Rowe, 54, and operated under the brand 'Sell My Timeshare' (SMT) to target owners desperate to relinquish their properties.
