Fishergate bus lane cameras being turned back on again

A bus lane through Preston city centre is due to begin dishing out fines again.

Fishergate's bus lane has been suspended since November last year when a fire ripped through the former St Joseph's Orphanage in Mount Street.

The closure of that road meant Lancashire County Council suspended the bus lane cameras.

Motorists have been reporting the scrubbing out on the signs has been removed and the county council has confirmed penalty notices will again be landing on doormats.

A grace period where warning notices will be issued to drivers will operate first although the county council has not confirmed how long this will last other than 'a few weeks'.

Panicked motorists have been contacting Blog Preston all week as they have been using the bus lane while it was turned off and now fear being landed with a fine.
