Family needs £40,000 to get dad home from Croatia after accident

A Lancashire man is stranded in a hospital in Croatia after a fall left him with multiple injuries and his insurance company refused to pay out on his policy.

An urgent funding appeal has been launched to bring home Brian Ackroyd, from Leyland, after his family and friends were quoted £40,000 for the trip.

Brian, 65, who has recently battled through treatment for prostate cancer, shattered his C2 vertebrae and fractured his skull in his fall on the first day of his holiday in the resort of Cavtat and has had three bleeds on the brain.

But despite his plight, insurance company Admiral has invalidated his policy over him not disclosing that he went to the doctor's and was referred for a colonoscopy, although it says it is making an ex gratia goodwill payment, understood to be £5,000.

Admiral also claim he didn't declare that he was type two diabetic, although he filled out in full his information for the prostate cancer he has survived in recent years.
