A man who had an 'enjoyable weekend in Preston' found it marred when he received a penalty charge notice from Lancashire County Council for driving in the Corporation Street bus gate.

Andrew Walker had been staying at the Legacy Hotel in Marsh Lane during his visit to the city from Derby.
He blamed poor signage in the area for him beginning to enter the controversial bus gate, which was introduced in May 2024.
Mr Walker said he entered the bus gate but after realising something was wrong had reversed out of it and found an alternative route.
He appealed the penalty charge notice which had landed on his doormat after his visit to Preston in mid-January.
Mr Walker said: "I think they need to look at how they tell people about this bus gate, especially when you're visiting the city.
