Hero Fiennes Tiffin and his uncle, Joseph Fiennes, discuss playing father and son in Guy Ritchie's new series Young Sherlock, on Prime Video this week
-
Sherlock Holmes, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of the most frequently adapted fictional characters in history, appearing in numerous television, film, and stage productions.
The brilliant and eccentric detective, known for his forensic approach to solving crimes, has been portrayed over the years by Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jonny Lee Miller.
A new television adaptation by Guy Ritchie will see Hero Fiennes Tiffin play a young Sherlock Holmes. In the eight-part series, Fiennes Tiffin stars opposite his uncle, Joseph Fiennes, who plays Silas Holmes, Sherlock's father.
The series also stars Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Young Sherlock follows the detective as a student at Oxford University, drawn into a murder investigation that threatens his freedom. His first case uncovers a globetrotting conspiracy, culminating in an explosive showdown that will forever alter the course of his life.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Victorian England and adventures abroad, the series explores the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who has yet to evolve into Baker Street's most renowned resident.
Fiennes-Tiffin, who is known for his portrayal of a young Tom Riddle in the film Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, says he was obsessed with Cumberbatch's Sherlock growing up.
