Prices have climbed gradually in the days leading up to the festival, and every household feels that shift while planning the celebration.Mutton, the heart of many Eid meals, now sells at nearly 800 per kilogram in several parts of the valley. A single bread costs around 20, which once felt like a small purchase and now demands thought. Cooking oil, vegetables, bakery items, and clothes all come with higher price tags, turning festive shopping into a careful exercise.
The change is easy to notice in city as well as countryside marketplaces. Shops remain busy and trade talks flow freely, but there is a new sense of calculation in every exchange.
