Residents fear loss of light and character if new home gets go-ahead

DIVISIVE plans to bulldoze a traditional bungalow and build a two-storey modern house in its place have sparked fears neighbouring homes will be "overshadowed".

But architects behind the bid say the design is of its time and will "enhance the architectural quality of the area and enrich the attractive urban fabric and street scene".

Plans for the four-bedroom house submitted to Thanet District Council include a basement, and a single-storey garage and home office on what is currently the front garden.

Designer Kube Architecture LLP argues that the new home would not be out of keeping with others locally.
