Macca is Arne's unsung hero in this title-winning campaign... and a future skipper

NOWADAYS, everyone seems to love a list and when ranking the top 10 players in Premier League history, there cannot be many football followers who would overlook Mohamed Salah.

- ANDY DUNN

And the same would apply in the case of Virgil van Dijk, if Premier League defenders were rated.

Alisson would also have a shout when it came to the goalkeeping elite.

But every title-winning team has at least one key performer who goes under the radar.

Every title-winning team has an unsung hero.

Not necessarily unsung by the team's fan base, but by impartial or casual observers.

Off the top of the head, here are a few.

Gareth Barry in the Manchester City team that won its first Premier League title in 2011-12.

Tim Sherwood in the Blackburn Rovers team that won its only Premier League title in 1994-95.

Nicky Butt, who won six Premier League titles with Manchester United.

Even, to an extent, Jordan Henderson in the Liverpool team that last won the Premier League title.

You will notice the common denominator. They were all midfielders, selfless midfielders.
