Hero Irish pair save 6 in Turkey hols fire

Couple woken by lethal smoke then help pensioners to safety

THIS heroic Irish couple have told how they survived a horror blaze in a holiday resort and saved six other people from the inferno.

Andrew Byrne and his partner Sarah Kenny, 33, revealed they had to move from balcony to balcony to escape the fire that erupted in their five-star hotel in the resort of Marmaris, Turkey in the early hours of Friday morning.

"We were trying to connect to each other's data to send a message, to send voice notes to say goodbye. We were done," Andrew, 34, told us last night.

The couple, from Meath and Dublin, started their week-long break last Monday and it turned into a nightmare at around 3am Irish time on Friday.

The couple were on the top floor of the hotel when the blaze took hold.
