We'll all be chilling out..

A top reading of 25.9°C in Athenry, Co Galway, on Wednesday was the hottest April day in Ireland on record, exceeding the 25.8°C that was recorded in Glenties, Co Donegal, in 1984.

Highs of 24°C were reached in Cork yesterday but temperatures today will be no higher than 13°C to 18°C, and tomorrow will range from 12°C to 16°C.

Sunday will range from 9°C to 11°C for northern counties, representing a stunning 16°C national drop from Wednesday's record-breaker.

Temperatures farther south on Sunday will range from 11°C to 15°C, while Monday is forecast to be around 11°C to 14°C nationwide, according to Met Eireann.

But the national weather service said: "The overview is that a high pressure is dominating, bringing a lot of dry weather, though it will be rather cloudy at times.
