AS the Scotstown players and fans made their way out of Armagh's Box-It Athletic Grounds last November, many wondered if they'd be back to challenge for another Ulster Club title.

- PADDY TIERNEY

Kilcoo had just inflicted a 5-10 to 0-11 defeat on An Bhoth in the provincial semi-final, a result which prompted manager David McCague to ponder his own future.

Having also lost three Ulster Club finals in the last decade, the Scotstown players also wondered if they'd ever emulate the great teams that went before them.

On Saturday, Scotstown departed Armagh with the Seamus McFerran Cup following a three-point win over the Down kingspin after extra-time.

Kieran Hughes, who scored two cracking points in the second half, said the Scotstown players made a pact that they wouldn't be defined by the 2024 loss to Kilcoo.

"We stood here 12 months ago after conceding five goals...! don't think we've conceded five goals in the last four or five years," said Hughes.
