Former marine in court over Liverpool victory parade hell

A FORMER Royal Marine shook his head as a court was told he deliberately drove at the Liverpool victory parade crowd.

A judge yesterday heard Paul Doyle, 53, “used his car as a weapon” by ploughing into fans, leaving 79 injured, after the Premier League trophy celebration in the city centre.

Married dad-of-three Doyle looked dishevelled and at times close to tears as he appeared at Liverpool magistrates and crown courts.

He was charged with one count of dangerous driving alongside two counts each of causing GBH with intent, wounding with intent to cause GBH and attempting to cause GBH with intent.

After appearing at crown court, Recorder of Liverpool Andrew Menary remanded Doyle in custody until August 14 for a plea hearing.
