Steak house widow's dog and drug rap

THE widow of a man who was murdered in a restaurant shooting has appeared in court accused of setting an XL Bully dog on gardai during a drugs and money laundering investigation.

Veronica Maher's husband Jason 'Jay' Hennessy Snr was shot dead in Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on Christmas Eve two years ago.

She was arrested on Thursday as part of "ongoing investigations into the activities of an organised crime group in West Dublin".

Ms Maher, 54, of Sheephill Avenue in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, was brought before Judge David McHugh at Blanchardstown District Court yesterday on four charges.

She is charged with intentionally or recklessly engaging in conduct by deliberately letting a large restricted breed XL Bully dog from her front garden while members of An Garda Siochana, who were on beat patrol in the area.
