Exiled couple quizzed but released without charge
A COUPLE arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman are now living in squalid conditions in a rat-infested hovel a year after the death shocked a quiet town.
Hasan Ali Gori and Mary Raywere found living in squalor at wetlands located off Condell Road, Limerick, surrounded by scurrying rats, rusting containers and insect-infested bedding.
The couple, both in their 50s, strongly deny any role in the death of Mary's mother Josephine 'Josie' Ray, whose body was discovered in bed at her home in Nenagh on August 4 last year.
The 89-year-old was found with facial bruising and appeared to have been strangled.
When approached for comment Mr Ali Gori said: "I have nothing to do with this death, how is somebody accusing me of murder.
"This is hatred, I feel it's racist. I didn't do anything to anybody."
Ms Ray was also adamant, saying: "No I hadn't, no I hadn't, no, no, I had not, no no."
