SHANE Lowry's Claret Jug defence in Portrush is all but over after being hit with a twoshot penalty as Scottie Scheffler ominously took the lead last night.

Rory McIlroy (left) is seven shots off the 10-under par mark set by Schleffer’s red-hot 64 in wet conditions on the Dunluce links — and Lowry is 10 shots behind after the ruling.
