LUXEMBOURG are gripped by controversy going into tonight's friendly with Ireland as Gerson Rodrigues’ selection draws a fierce backlash.
The star forward - who scored when Luxembourg won 1-0 at the Aviva in 2021 - was convicted of a domestic abuse charge. He was given an 18-month suspended sentence and lost an appeal against it in April.
Luxembourg boss Luc Holtz and the FA have been heavily criticised for selecting Rodrigues in the squad for tonight's game and last Friday's home defeat to Slovenia.
