WALSALL head coach Mat Sadler labelled Priestley Farquharson “an absolute monster” after he sealed a 2-0 win at Harrogate on his first EFL start for 15 months.

The 6ft 3in defender suffered a thigh injury in August 2024 which caused him to miss the rest of last season, but his 87th-minute header followed Daniel Kanu’s first-half opener as Walsall returned to the top.

Sadler said: “He was holding on a bit at the end, but playing 87 minutes and scoring in his first start for a long while will have done him the world of good.

“He looked like an absolute monster in the back line.”
