TOM McKibbin expressed his ambition to make Europe's Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor before he was hit by a LIV Golf setback this week.

The Belfast golfer turned down a move to the PGA Tour to join the Saudi-backed tour in January and Jon Rahm's Legion XIII team.

Despite going against Rory McIlroy's advice it has proved to be a financially rewarding decision for McKibbin - he has pocketed over €4m in his debut season.

But he has hit a stumbling block in his desire to play Ryder Cup golf in Limerick in two years time.

"Yeah, I'd love to be a part of Ryder Cups and things like that," said the 22-year-old. "But again, it just depends on how everything is and how my golf game is by then or before then.
