McCabe the real McCoy for the Lake

RONAN Wallace says Dermot McCabe can "work wonders with Westmeath" - if he is given time.

The Lake "couldn't buy a win this year" in a tough Division 2 but Wallace likes what he's seen from manager McCabe.

They were relegated from with six defeats and a draw out of seven games, but they were incredibly unfortunate, with many of those defeats close affairs.

The only fixture they were well beaten in was against Monaghan, where they lost by eight against the eventual champions and stand-out team in the division.

That means their average losing margin was just over 2.5 points, which is nothing in the new, higher-scoring version of Gaelic football.
