Ian still feeling Hughes bruises

- BY JASON MELLOR

IAN EVATT hopes his latest meeting with Mark Hughes is less bruising than his first.

Blackpool face Carlisle for the first time in the FA Cup tomorrow although the Cumbrians have played in the cup at Bloomfield Road when it staged a third-round tie against Yeovil a decade ago, with Brunton Park out of use after flooding caused by Storm Desmond.

Evatt had to deal with a whirl wind of his own when he attempted to shackle Carlisle boss Hughes as a fresh-faced young Derby defender towards the end of the Welshman's glittering career 25 years ago.

It proved to be a painful encounter for the Blackpool boss.

Evatt said: "I remember playing against Mark when he was at Southampton (inset). I was a very young centre-back at that stage.

"He tried to make a run and went through me rather than around me - which wasn't pleasant.
