MALACHY O'Rourke insists he'll give Michael McKernan every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Tyrone's All-Ireland SFC semi-final in a fortnight.

There had been fears that the Coalisland native had sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in the recent win over Cavan in Brewster Park. He wasn't named in the Tyrone panel for Saturday's seven-point win over Dublin in Croke Park.

While O'Rourke confirmed McKernan has injured his AC joint, the damage isn't a bad as initially feared.
