Nice proved the perfect spot for a romantic city break

NICE is... nice! Now that the most obvious pun in the world is out of the way, let's get down to business.

Nice is more than nice. In fact, it's far more. I headed there last month for a short city break with my wife Donna to celebrate a big anniversary — and we fell in love... with the French city.

When it comes to milestones, especially those of a romantic nature, most people think of Rome or even Paris — who doesn't know someone who has gotten engaged on The Spanish Steps or in front of the Eiffel Tower?

Well, it's been a long while since I got engaged and while the romance is far from dead, myself and the better half were looking for something different for our wedding anniversary.

So we packed our weekend bags and hopped on a Ryanair flight from Dublin for the two-hour, 40-minute flight, a doddle.

And before long we had the sun on our backs as we touched down to a balmy 30 degrees.
