JIMMY SAVOURING 'HUMONGOUS' WIN
Irish Daily Star
|March 31, 2025
JIMMY LEE says capturing silverware is 'humongous' for the Limerick footballers.
The county's hurlers are well used to lifting the MacCarthy Cup at Croke Park and blitzing Munster Championships but it was the footballers' turn to take centre stage on Saturday with a landmark NFL Division 4 final win.
Tailteann Cup All Star Emmett Rigter was Man of the Match but Tommie Childs was the difference, blasting the matchwinning BAINISTEO 62nd-minute goal and giving a powerhouse midfield performance.
Boss Lee said: "It's humongous. For the boys inside in our dressing-room, some of the lads like Killian Ryan, Tommie, lain Corbett, they've been at it a while.
Limerick shared a title in 2020 but to get a cup now, absolutely thrilled for them.
"Paul Maher is in there as well, there's a good few really experienced lads, Danny Neville, Peter Nash.
It's massive for these lads.
Winning is a habit and we're glad to be getting into that habit." Wexford kicked themselves for not taking the multiple goal chances that fell their way, particularly in the first half.
