Reds' Euro dream shattered as PSG hold their nerve to win shootout
LIVERPOOL'S luck finally ran out on a night of nerve-shredding tension.
Paris Saint-Germain had to make history at Anfield to reach the quarter-finals as they broke Liverpool hearts.
This went all the way to penalties and Darwin Nunez looked devastated as he and Curtis Jones missed - while PSG celebrated wildly after a European classic.
PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Italy's hero of their shoot-out win over England at the Euros at Wembley in 2021, produced two magnificent saves.
It was heartbreaking for the Reds but glory for PSG as they were magnificent on the night to beat the odds to leave the home fans stunned.
The French champions overturned a first leg defeat as they squeezed through on penalties to end Arne Slot’s (circle) quest for European glory.
Incredibly, this was the first time in 40 occasions that Liverpool have won the away leg of a European tie and not gone through.
But Liverpool's journey ended at the last-16 stage as they gave everything, battled until the bitter end and yet still went out.
