Matt strike decisive as Rover~ hope to wrap up title on Friday

SHAMROCK ROVERS are potentially just 90 minutes away from being crowned Premier Division champions.

Last night's 2-1 win away to Waterford moved them 10 points clear of their nearest challengers Bohemians and Derry City.

That means a victory against Bohs in the Dublin derby this Friday night - combined with a Derry defeat away to Drogheda United - would confirm Rovers' fifth title in six seasons.

Easier said than done, however, as the Gypsies are aiming for a clean sweep over the Hoops this year, having won the three previous encounters between the two rivals.

Bohs boss Alan Reynolds was in the RSC last night to watch Stephen Bradley's men complete a clean sweep of their own over the Blues.

They took all three points back up the M9, thanks to Josh Honohan's first-half goal and a classy second-half Matt Healy strike.

But they didn't have it all their own way against John Coleman's outfit.

Waterford are now firmly in the relegation playoff equation, with Sligo Rovers moving ahead of them on goal difference after their win against Galway United last night.
