EU deal with UK 'good for Ireland'

IRELAND yesterday welcomed the “landmark” deals between the EU and the UK to reset post-Brexit relations.

Agreements on defence co-operation and easing trade flows will slash red tape, grow the British economy and reset relations with the 27-nation trade bloc, British PM Keir Starmer said.

He declared: “Britain is back on the world stage. This deal is a win-win.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the talks a “historic moment” that is good for both sides.

The deal should benefit Irish fishermen by giving them access to UK waters and also make it easier for Irish firms to export to Britain.
