With sheer belief and some Eze magic, Palace made Cup history and showed others how to take on the big boys
THE best part of this season has been the story of the underdog.
It has been the upsetting of the status quo, disrupting the establishment, and bringing down the Big Six.
Amid the red-and-blue flares at Wembley, Crystal Palace emerged as the most wonderful example by winning the club's first major trophy after lifting the FA Cup. It was glorious. It meant the world to those supporters who shed tears of joy after a day Wembley will never forget. It will go down as one of the great and most iconic FA Cup stories.
Manchester City arguably the best team in the Premier League era and champions for four consecutive seasons dethroned and finishing the campaign without a trophy.
Similarly, Newcastle lifted the Carabao Cup to end a 56-year wait for a major trophy. What odds would you have got at the start of the season for Palace and Newcastle to win both domestic cups?
