Fresh claims that body was 'thrown in sea' as search ends

MADELEINE McCann could have been hit by a German drunk-driver and thrown in the sea, a report claimed yesterday.

German authorities were made aware of the claims about missing Madeleine as long ago as 2018 but failed to properly investigate, according to Lisbon-based daily newspaper Correio da Manha.

British officers probing Maddie's 2007 disappearance in Praia da Luz were last night silent over the theory.

The claim emerged just hours after German police ended a three-day search of derelict buildings near the Algarve resort where Madeleine was last seen.
