COLTART SAYS USA FANS COULD TURN AGAINST OWN SIDE
Irish Daily Star
|September 19, 2025
THE USA team fear abuse from their own fans at the Ryder Cup next week, former Europe player Andrew Coltart claimed.
And the Scot reckons paying the American players for the first time will only increase the pressure to secure a home win.
Coltart played in the infamous 1999 Ryder Cup in Brookline (above) when home supporters roared the US to a final-day comeback win.
But the Sky Sports analyst (below) believes the American team this year will have to carry the huge burden of favouritism with eight of the last nine events won by the hosts.
“The US team are feeling the pressure already because it is a home match,” said Coltart.
“New York will be something they have never encountered. It is a coliseum of fire that they are going to be walking into so that could be quite intimidating.
“You look around and you have your own supporters shouting abuse at you.
