SLAUGHTNEIL are through to this year's provincial final after a five-point win over a battling Portaferry outfit in Armagh.

A second half goal from substitute Gerald Bradley proved decisive as the Derry men finally got some breathing space in the final 10 minutes after squandering a host of goal chances throughout a hard-hitting and, at times, scrappy encounter.

With Chrissy McKaigue turning in a brilliant performance as a target man inside, Slaughtneil carried more of an attacking threat than the Down champions, who were over-reliant on the exploits of Cathal Coleman, who scored 0-10.
