Boston already in the bag for our latest export

America's ready to spice things up

CLASSIC Spice bag at The Dubliner and, top, chef Aidan McGee

IT IS Ireland's latest culinary export sensation.

While the entire Cabinet and the cream of Ireland's acting talent are out doing their bit for Irish-American relations, so too is the humble spice bag.

And given Donald Trump's taste for fast food, maybe it's our ace card!

A top chef at Boston's favourite Irish pub is a convert and is helping spread the word and turn the US into a nation of spice girls and boys.

According to chef Aidan McGee, who has helped The Dubliner become an unmissable stop on any visitor's Boston food tour, the humble Irish spice bag was virtually unheard of in the US until recently.

"A few years ago, hardly anyone in Boston knew what a spice bag was, but now people come into the pub specifically asking for it," Aidan said.

"Social media has played a huge role - videos of late-night takeaways in Dublin or Cork travel quickly. Once people try it, they get it immediately."
