Solar farm will cover electricity needs of facility
DUBLIN Airport officially opened its solar farm yesterday as it commits to 20% of the airport's annual electricity needs coming from renewable solar energy by 2030.
The airport installed 15,000 solar panels on the 28-acre site, which is located close to the south runway and visible from the R102.
Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien opened the farm, saying Ireland has an aviation sector that "is respected and admired internationally" and the Government is committed to continuing to improve its infrastructure.
