€4.5k to name Children's Hospital

Minister says 'brand agency' suggested title

IT COST the Government €4,500 to name the new Children's Hospital the "National Children's Hospital Ireland", it has been confirmed.

This was one of 17 names suggested with “the support of a specialist branding agency” for the beleaguered facility in Dublin.

It is expected to open in June 2026 and in the “best case scenario” will cost at least €2.2billion.

Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill said: “The reason that we picked that name was very simple. We had a process of engagement with the youth advisory groups, with parents, with patients, and that is the name that they chose.
