ZAV'S A NATIONAL TREASURE
Irish Daily Mirror
|September 15, 2025
EVE JOHNSON HOUGHTON hailed Zavateri as "probably the best I've trained" after he won the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh yesterday.
The colt took his unbeaten record to four by defeating one of Aidan O'Brien's star youngsters, the Royal Ascot winner Gstaad.
The Ballydoyle trainer saddled half the six-runner field but Zavateri took the race on the nod the 10-11 favourite by a head.
The first two came very close near the line as Zavateri leaned to his right but not enough for the stewards to reverse the placings.
