SIR ALEX FERGUSON smiled “the price doesn't matter” after world-transfer record holder Caldwell Potter hit the back of the net in the Jack Richards Novices' Handicap Chase.

The grey went under the hammer for €740,000 - then the highest price paid for a National Hunt horse - when sold out of Gordon Elliott's stable in February last year.
After a winning start for Paul Nicholls at Carlisle in December, Caldwell Potter was beaten in his next two races.
