A NEW survey by Airbnb shows how you can tell some-one's age by the kind of holiday they prefer.

- BY LARISSA NOLAN

Gen-Z love exotic adventures; home-bird Millennials prefer stay-cations, while Boomers go for longer breaks in coastal locations.

The short-stay platform studied trends for autumn and found the favourite listings of Gen Z - who are in their teens and 20s - are places like Marrakesh and Bali.

Busy Millennials in their 30s and 40s like short breaks, closer to home, in places like Galway or Kerry or maybe a quick trip to Spanish foodie city Bilbao.

Boomers - grandparents in their 60s and 70s - have more time on their hands to spend longer in destinations such as Cork and Sligo.

Bali and Morocco are the choices of those under 30, as Airbnb says: “Gen Z are embracing short breaks. Morocco and Bali are among top autumn destinations for this age group, who are turning their attention to culturally rich locations.

“Their searches on Airbnb are up by 26% globally, showing strong demand for international travel.

“Closer to home, Manchester features strongly, with upcoming concerts like Lady Gaga and Lorde providing strong attraction.

LEISURE

“Baby Boomers are opting for staycations in Ireland, where they can slow down and explore at leisure as the summer comes to an end.
