Tourist tells of fleeing cave torrent

In Co Fermanagh, tourists had to evacuate the Marble Arch Caves on Sunday as hundreds of gallons of water came gushing in.

Alistair Hay, from Emerald Guitars in St Johnston, Co Donegal, said he was just half-an-hour into a tour of the caves when they got a radio call about the heavy rain on the surface above.

He recounted how the tour began to "hear waterfalls" inside the underground limestone caves when the "lights went out" leaving the group in "total blackness".
