CORONATION Street has filmed an episode using only CCTV, police bodycams, ring doorbells and hidden cameras in a global first for the world of soaps.

The cinematographic approach is being used for the specially formatted episode to highlight the serious issue of domestic abuse within the gay community.

The storyline reaches a pivotal point in this episode when Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) faces danger at the hands of his controlling boyfriend Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
