Kane strikes twice as Kompany gives Maresca a German lesson in Munich
HARRY KANE stuck to his pre-match promise by scoring a crucial double for Bayern Munich to inflict pain on his longtime rivals Chelsea.
The former Tottenham striker said before the game that he relishes coming up against those not so fond of him, such as the Blues supporters.
And Bayern's No.9 ensured Chelsea's return to the stadium where they won the competition in 2012 was a lot less memorable as he slotted home a penalty before an expert finish for his second got the Germans off to a winning start.
Trevoh Chalobah’s own goal already had Bayern in front when Kane's slick turn drew a foul from Moises Caicedo in the box before he stepped up to send Robert Sanchez the wrong way.
With just 27 minutes gone it threatened to be a torrid evening for Enzo Maresca’s side.
But if England captain Kane is closer to the end than the beginning of his time as his country's talisman, then Chelsea's Cole Palmer could very well be the next worthy candidate.
