Stars who left Montrose to see the world

CLAIRE Byrne's jump to Newstalk is a shock move to listeners and a loss to RTE.

The Laois broadcaster was one of the biggest names at the national broadcaster.

However, she’s not the first RTE star to leave the corridors of Montrose.

The man she will replace at Newstalk - Pat Kenny - did the same thing before her in 2013.

It was a hefty salary to leave behind - Pat was earning almost a million a year during the 2000s.

However, it all worked out for him and recent company reports show he was sitting on assets of €2.4 million.
