Armed gardai swoop after men injure each other with knives

- BY PAUL HEALY

GARDAI fear reprisals in an escalating gang war after one man was slashed in the face - and another dumped outside a Garda station.

Armed gardai rushed into Longford town at around 9pm on Monday after two men attacked each other with knives.

One of them was then dumped outside Longford Garda Station - after the other had been violently slashed in the face in a nearby estate.

Gardai were alerted to a man who had apparently been thrown out of a car and left outside the station.

It followed a suspected 'straightener' which occurred in the Teffia Park estate.

The man had slash injuries to his hands - and is suspected to have earlier been scrapping with the other injured man.
