Rooftop power panels surge to 1GW milestone

IRELAND'S clean energy transition just got a massive boost after hitting a huge one gigawatt of solar power on the roofs of homes, schools and businesses across the country.

The country has over 170,000 systems on houses, farms, sports clubs, and businesses, showing how communities are stepping up to secure energy, save money, and slash emissions.

Rooftop solar has really taken off, proving to be one of Ireland’s easiest and most successful climate fixes, thanks in no small part to the SEAI solar PV grants.

Climate Minister Darragh O’Brien TD was quick to celebrate, saying: “Hitting 1 GW of rooftop solar is a community victory for the whole of Ireland.
