ROBERTO Lopes says his newborn son Diego is a “top pro” when it comes to his sleeping habits.

Diego is just two weeks old but appears to know when his dad, Shamrock Rovers’ Premier Division title-winning captain, needs an extra bit of sleep ahead of big games.

“Obviously with parenthood, there’s good nights, there's bad nights,” said Lopes, in the wake of Rovers’ league-clinching victory over Galway United on Wednesday.

“I think what Diego's done really well is he recognised when it's match day. He's getting me the few hours of sleep.

“The night feed has just been broken up into two, which is brilliant. He's already on board. He's a top pro already, so it's great!”
