NEWBRIDGE turned in a clinical second half performance to end Madden's Championship odyssey and seal their place in the last four of the Ulster Club SFC.

The newly-crowned Armagh champions never reached the heights of their brilliant showing against Cullyhanna a fortnight earlier and they were left to rue a series of poor misses midway through the second half.

After delivering a devastating nan-of-the-natch performance in the Armagh final, Darragh McMullen’s importance to the Madden cause was flagged in advance.

Mark McGrogan kept tabs on Dunloy's Seaan Elliott in the preliminary quarterfinal and he was given the role of shadowing the Armagh star on Sunday, holding him scoreless.

The sides were level at 0-2 all after 10 minutes and Newbridge ought to have plundered at least one goal in the early stages.
