Gori is placed under protection in maximum security prison

- BY PAUL HEALY

A MURDER suspect who was hospitalised after claiming he was attacked by prison officers is back in prison and in solitary confinement.

This paper has learned that gardai are set to speak to prison officers who Hasan Ali Gori claims assaulted him after a prior incident in which he was accused of biting staff working at Limerick Prison earlier this month.

Gori was taken to ICU in hospital after presenting to Portlaoise Prison with serious injuries, which turned out to be a punctured lung, over a week ago.

PROTECTION

Now we have learned that he has been returned to the maximum security prison in Co Laois, where he has been placed under protection.

This means that the man who is an admitted suspect in the murder of Tipperary pensioner Josephine Ray has been segregated from the rest of the prison population and is locked up for 23 hours a day.
