Active cartel death threat as Hutch prepares for Dail campaign

- BY JOHN KIERANS

GERRY Hutch is still living under Kinahan cartel death threats as he makes his plans to run for election again.

Garda sources say he is keeping an extremely low profile as he moves between Ireland and Spain, regularly booking flights between the two countries at the last minute.

He has not been seen publicly for months and is communicating via social media and is taking the Kinahan threats against him and his family very seriously.

One Garda source said: "He is not letting his guard down. He has protection around him. The Kinahans have not gone away, they have come after him before and could do so again.

COURTS

"They have not forgiven him or his family for the Regency Hotel murder of David Byrne, even though he was found not guilty by the courts. Gerry is keeping a very low profile whether he is in Dublin or Spain.

"Personal security will be at the forefront of his mind if he runs for election again. He will probably do most of his campaigning via social media."
