Man 'seriously hurt' before minister visit

A PATIENT at a major hospital was seriously injured in an assault with an iron bar just minutes before the Health Minister arrived for a visit.
-
The assault took place at around 9:30am outside Cork city’s Mercy University Hospital on Sunday.
The patient, a man in his 50s, was attacked and then taken back into the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
A man, also in his 50s, was arrested at the scene.
