Sunny days and high temperatures for week

TEMPERATURES are set to rise with highs of 20C after the country saw a washout week with heavy downpours.

It's set to be a mild weekend with sunny spells and few showers, before Tuesday and Wednesday bring the warmest days of the week.

Met Eireann forecaster Andrew Doran-Sherlock said while a mini-heatwave isn't on the cards, things are looking up.

He added: "Our criteria for a heatwave is greater than 25C for more than five days, so we are not anticipating that.
