IN the first half of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Hungary, it looked like we were cleverly doing all we could to avoid having to go to Trump's America next summer.

It really did feel like a decision had been taken somewhere that the last thing we wanted was hundreds of Irish fans out on the lash in Boston or Los Angeles - ending up in prisons in El Salvador.
And so the FAI and the Government had decided we should sit this one out.
